Essential Oils for Muscle Discomfort and Inflammation Relief
Essential Oils for Muscle Discomfort and Inflammation Relief Whether from overwork or under use, many of us have had to deal with muscle aches and discomforts at one point or another. While there are several remedies available to relieve muscle discomfort, both natural and pharmaceutical, essential oils have their own role in soothing the sore muscles and offering relief. The most popular essential oils that are generally used to soothe muscle discomfort include wintergreen, cinnamon, marjoram, cypress and basil. With that said, here are some of the best essential oils you can use for muscle pain relief: Basil Basil can be applied directly as a massage oil to reduce swelling in the muscles. It works as a decongestant, antiseptic, muscle relaxant, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, antiviral and antispasmodic. Individuals with epilepsy, kids, and pregnant females must avoid making use of basil. It may likewise be a skin irritant. Basil can either be ingested in diluted forms or used in a diffuser. Marjoram Marjoram essential oil can be beneficial for bronchitis, headache, asthma, whooping cough or any irregularity in muscles. With the right knowledge of its use, Marjoram fits for both oral consumption and topical application with no known side effects involved. Tea Tree There are not many side effects involved with the use of tea tree oil; however, a little caution must be followed when using this oil on children under the age of 6. In addition, I have found people using tea tree oil to have a higher vulnerability to contact sensitization. Neroli Neroli is calming, relaxing, promotes self-confidence, sensuality, peace of mind, and positivity. When used properly, there are no known side effects to using the oil. Neroli can be applied topically as a fragrance, or used in diffused form. Spearmint Spearmint essential oil can work wonders for those suffering from muscle pain and inflammation. There are no known adverse effects to using this oil; however, skin irritation is one of the negative outcomes when this oil id used for long. This oil can be taken orally, used externally or in a diffuser. Helichrysum Helichrysum is useful for reducing the inflammation of the muscles, acne and headaches. In addition, this oil promotes the healing of injuries or burns, detoxifies the body and boosts the immune system, reverses the signs of aging, and fights the fungal infections. There are no known adverse effects to making use of this essential oil, but ingesting it orally can be toxic. Helichrysum can be used both topically and in a diffuser. Peppermint Peppermint essential oil is highly relaxing for those suffering from muscle pain and inflammation. While there are no known negative effects to making use of peppermint oil, I have seen some people reporting problems like mild skin irritation. It can be taken internally, topically, or used in a diffuser. Wintergreen Wintergreen essential oil can be beneficial for small muscle aches and pains, issues of the kidney, nerve pain, arthritis, throbbing joints and menstrual pain. This oil is hazardous when ingested orally, and can trigger ringing in the ears, forgetfulness, belly pain, headache, vomiting and nausea, if not used appropriately. It can be applied topically to the skin or used in a diffuser. Clary Sage Clary Sage essential oil can be helpful for inflammation of the muscles when applied to the skin. There are no recognized negative effects to making use of clary sage, when taken in right amounts. It can be taken orally (it acts as a flavor for food) or used topically. Chamomile Chamomile essential oil helps in sleep and has soothing and relaxing properties that help to lower stress and anxiety. Possible adverse effects can include contact dermatitis, anaphylaxis and other extreme hypersensitivity reactions. You can diffuse it or rub 2 drops of this oil on the temples or back of the neck, either prior to going to bed or when dealing with a difficult situation. Cinnamon Cinnamon essential oil has the ability to stabilize blood sugar, reduce inflammation, and battle the infection. There are no known side results to using cinnamon; however, it may be a skin irritant and may irritate the nasal passages if not watered down. Cypress Cypress essential oil reduces pain in the muscles including muscle fatigue and spasms. In addition, this essential oil helps in relieving aching muscles after a strenuous exercise session. When used topically, it easily penetrates the skin and mixes with the blood within minutes, triggering immediate relaxation and pain relief. Common muscle illnesses and the essential oils you can use for them General Muscle Discomfort The best essential oils to use for general muscle discomfort are Marjoram and Pepper mint followed by wintergreen, white fir, vetiver, Spanish sage, silver fir, rosemary, Lemongrass, lavender, Ginger, Cypress, Birch, Basil and Balsam fir. Muscle aches If you are throbbing due to muscle pain or have fibromyalgia or connective tissue discomfort, the following essential oils are most helpful: Peppermint, Oregano, Marjoram, Clove and Birch. Other than these essential oils, I have found Wintergreen, White Fir, Thyme, Rosemary, Chamomile, Lavender and Helichrysum to be quite useful. Cardiac Muscle pain Yes, your heart is a muscle. Marjoram and Lavender work best for such muscle issues, followed by Rosemary, peppermint and Cinnamon. You can use these oils topically or in a diffuser for aromatic use. Cartilage Injury Birch, Marjoram, and Wintergreen are best for this kind of injury. Lemongrass and Peppermint are likewise useful. Lack of energy in muscles To energize the muscles prior to a workout, use Rosemary. It warms the muscles and helps them to stretch for optimal efficiency. Muscle Cramps Often prompted by pressure or lack of blood circulation, leg and foot cramps can often be prevented by remaining hydrated. Lemongrass, Marjoram, and Peppermint are the best oils for relief, followed by Vetiver, Rosemary, Chamomile, Lavender, Grapefruit, Cypress, Clary Sage and Basil. Muscle Fatigue List of essential oils that I can confidently recommend for muscle fatigue includes White Fir, Peppermint, Marjoram and Cypress. Other than that, Thyme, Rosemary, Grapefruit and Eucaluptus have also shown quite good results with my patients. Muscle Spasms While spasms are not usually agonizing, they can be eased with the use of Basil, Chamomile and Marjoram. Peppermint, Lavender, Cypress and Clary Sage can likewise help. Muscle Sprains Stress in the ligament can be treated with White Fir, marjoram and Lemongrass. Other essential oils that might be helpful are Vetiver, Thyme, Rosemary, Lavender, Helichrysum, Ginger, Eucalyptus and Clove. Tendinitis Marjoram and Lavender are the best essential oils you can use for swelling of the tendon. Muscle stress Whether caused due to physical stress, or emotional anxiety, Marjoram is your best choice for muscle stress. Helichrysum, Lavender, Peppermint, and Roman Chamomile are also useful. Prepare your own essential oil Blends For a muscle pull, blend 3 drops of Roman Chamomile and 2drops of sugary food grade Marjoram together. Apply this blend via cold compress. For muscular pain, combine 3 drops of Roman Chamomile with 3 drops of Lavender. Apply this blend using cold compress. For swelling in the muscles, use a cold compress of 3 drops of Peppermint and 3 drops of Yarrow. To release a muscle spasm, mix 2 drops of Ginger, 3 drops of Cypress and 3 drops of Sweet Marjoram with 3 teaspoons of carrier oil of your choice. Apply this blend topically twice in a day. To soothe tender muscles, blend 3 drops of Lemongrass, 5 drops of Ginger, and 5 drops of Lavender with 5 teaspoons carrier oil of your choice. Apply this blend topically three times in a day. To relax tight muscles, blend 4 drops of Lavender, 4 drops of Rosemary, and 2 drops of Ginger with 4 teaspoons of carrier oil. Use this blend topically three times in a day. In order to ease rheumatic pain, blend 3 drops of Lavender, 3 drops of Ginger, and 3 drops of Silver Fir in 5 teaspoons of carrier oil. Apply this blend over the impacted areas three times in a day. In order to enhance flow of blood to the cramping muscles of the leg combine 3 drops of Ginger, 5 drops of Black Pepper, and 5 drops of Cinnamon in 5 teaspoons of carrier oil. Use this blend over areas where muscle cramps exist. For centuries, essential oils have been recognized for having therapeutic properties. Ancient cultures exercised the art of making essential oils for reliving muscle pain by first soaking the leaves, branches, bark and flowers of plants in oil for duration of time and then using linens to cleanse, separate and filter the oils in a concentrated form. Always remember that muscles need potassium, sodium, magnesium, calcium, glucose and sufficient amounts of water to work. So, I would recommend that you do not overlook something that is the basic requirement for your muscles to function optimally.

Performance-based Compensation - Pay for Performance Essay -- Job Work
Performance-based Compensation - Pay for Performance Corporations are looking for new ways to improve employee performance as well as remain competitive. Pay for performance is one method some businesses are utilizing to improve employee performance. Performance-based compensation exists when compensation is tied directly to that portion of an individualââ¬â¢s performance that can be effectively measured. There are a number of ways in which this may be accomplished and a number of examples as well how it is applied. One of the oldest examples is taken from the ancient Egyptians, where slaves working in the pyramids were given bread for superior performance. Payment of commission for sales production is one of the methods used today. Most will agree that knowledge is the ââ¬Ëkeyââ¬â¢ resource in this post-industrial economy. The challenge for many companies is developing an organization that creates and cultivates knowledge and learning. Pay plays a significant role in shaping workplace behavior. Most of the traditional pay systems reward the job the individual performs rather than the skills he/she brings to the job. The system is not being able to reward the things the company needs and this presents a barrier. The trend has moved away from pay for the value of the job, service and seniority. It is being replaced with paying for skills, knowledge, competency, performance and productivity, all which can be delivered through different invitations, from changes to base pay to introducing gainsharing. HOW DOES PAY FOR PERFORMANCE WORK? If part or all of the oneââ¬â¢s salary is contingent on how well you actually perform your job, one will go the extra mile. The individual will attack his/her work with vigor and revel in the rewards. And... ...aining 34, Number 12 (December 1998): 34-40 Hays, Scott. "Pros & Cons of Pay for Performance." Network Neutrality
SHOULD NETWORK NEURALITY CONTINUE? DRAFT SUMMARY This case study from the beginning wanted to know the kind of internet use the reader is and how their usage is affecting the bandwidth making it slow down the entire internet. It went further to discuss reports which indicated that use demand for the internet could outspace network capacity by 2011 which would result in slow performance on websites such as youtube and facebook with other services. The debate about metering internet use centres was also raised.Network neutrality which is the idea of internet service providers allowing customers equal access to content and applications regardless of the source or nature of the content was the key issue discussed in this case study. It brought to the fore the fact that presently the internet is indeed neutral because it was built on phone lines, which are subject to common carriage laws. These laws require phone companies to treat all calls and customers equally. Which means that they ca nnot offer extra benefits to customers willing to pay higher premiums for faster or clearer calls.Due to bandwidth consumed by content being delivered over the internet, Telecom and cable companies want to be able to charge differentiated prices. Advocates of net neutrality are pushing congress to regulate the industry which would require network providers to refrain from these types of practices. Some companies report that 5 percent of their customers use about half the capacity on local lines without paying any more than low-usage customers. They state that metered pricing is ââ¬Å"the fairest wayâ⬠to finance necessary investments in its network infrastructure.Internet service providers point to the upsurge in piracy of copyrighted materials over the Internet as a reason to oppose network neutrality. Comcast reported that illegal file sharing of copyrighted material was consuming 50 percent of its network capacity. The company posits that if network transmission rates were slower for this type of content, users would be less likely to download or access it. Bob Kahn, another co-inventor of the Internet Protocol opposes network neutrality saying that it removes the incentive for network providers to innovate, provide new capabilities, and upgrade to new technology.ANSWERS 1. What is network neutrality? Why has the Internet operated under net neutrality up to this point in time? Network neutrality is the idea that Internet service providers must allow customers equal access to content and applications regardless of the source or nature of the content. Presently the Internet is indeed neutral: all Internet traffic is treated equally on a first-come, first-serve basis by Internet backbone owners. The Internet is neutral because it was built on phone lines, which are subject to ââ¬Ëcommon carriageââ¬â¢ laws. Common Carrier law reflects a business principle that strives to avoid discrimination in a wide range of commercial practices. These laws require phone companies to treat all calls and customers equally. They cannot offer extra benefits to customers willing to pay higher premiums for faster or clearer calls, a model knows as tiered service. 2. Whoââ¬â¢s in favor of network neutrality? Whoââ¬â¢s opposed? Why? Organizations like MoveOn. rg, the Christian Coalition, the American Library Association, every major consumer group, many bloggers and small businesses, and some large Internet companies like Google and Amazon are in favour and supports network neutrality. Vint Cerf, a co-inventor of the Internet Protocol and some members of the U. S. Congress also support network neutrality . This group argues that the risk of censorship increases when network operators can selectively block or slow access to certain content. Others are concerned about the effect of slower transmission rates on their business models if users canââ¬â¢t download or access content in a speedy fashion.Telecommunications and cable companies are lar gely opposed to network neutrality and want to be able to charge differentiated prices based on the amount of bandwidth consumed by content being delivered over the Internet. Some companies report that 5 percent of their customers use about half the capacity on local lines without paying any more than low-usage customers. They state that metered pricing is ââ¬Å"the fairest wayâ⬠to finance necessary investments in its network infrastructure. Internet service providers point to the upsurge in piracy of copyrighted materials over the Internet as a reason to oppose network neutrality.Comcast reported that illegal file sharing of copyrighted material was consuming 50 percent of its network capacity. The company posits that if network transmission rates were slower for this type of content, users would be less likely to download or access it. Bob Kahn, another co-inventor of the Internet Protocol opposes network neutrality saying that it removes the incentive for network providers to innovate, provide new capabilities, and upgrade to new technology. 3. What would be the impact on individual users, businesses, and government if Internet providers switched to a tiered service model? It has been argued by proponents of net neutrality that a neutral Internet encourages everyone to innovate without permission from the phone and cable companies or other authorities. A more level playing field spawns countless new businesses. Allowing unrestricted information flow becomes essential to free markets and democracy as commerce and society increasingly move online. Heavy users of network bandwidth would pay higher prices without necessarily experiencing better service. Even those who use less bandwidth could run into the same situation.Network owners believe regulation like the bills proposed by net neutrality advocates will impede U. S. competitiveness by stifling innovation and hurt customers who will benefit from ââ¬Ëdiscriminatoryââ¬â¢ network practices. U. S. Internet service already lags behind other nations in overall speed, cost, and quality of service, adding credibility to the providersââ¬â¢ arguments. Obviously, by increasing the cost of heavy users of network bandwidth, telecommunication and cable companies and Internet service providers stand to increase their profit margins. 4. Are you in favor of legislation enforcing network neutrality? Why or why not? WHY Innovation and Creativity are the Heart of Net Neutrality The Internet has grown at a phenomenal pace since its beginnings in the early 1990's, and this growth is largely in part due to the protections and freedoms that net neutrality affords. Groundbreaking ideas and innovative products such as Google, eBay, YouTube, and torrents have gotten to where they are today because of net neutrality, and there are literally thousands of new start-ups, online stores, and simple ecommerce sites that start every day with the same chance to make it big. Net neutrality encourages creat ive expression. For example, a lecturer talking to weekend MBA students via podcast. Without net neutrality, this opportunity would be limited at best, and completely throttled at worst. Net Neutrality Provides a Competitive Marketplace Most people have access to only one, perhaps two ISPs (Internet Service Providers) in their local area. If net neutrality were to be revoked, these ISPs would have the authority to regulate Internet access, and since the consumer would most likely be unable to choose a different service provider, that access would be defined according to their discrimination. WHY NOTTiered Access Could Make For A Better Internet Net neutrality, if legislated would affect Internet Service providers who believe in the tiered access. That is paying for different levels of Internet service. This could pay for more sophisticated infrastructure, which would benefit all the users of that network. Their argument postulates that large companies could afford to pay higher fees for Internet access, which would in turn finance network improvements, which would eventually trickle down to the average Web user. Control Legislation would actually control commonplace safety practices and loopholes for unethical exploits.

I Have Always Enjoyed Taking Personality Tests - 948 Words
I have always enjoyed taking personality tests. From reading my horoscope to looking up facts about my learning style, I have a great deal of fun learning more about myself. After taking the Myers-Briggs test, and examining the Social Penetration Theory and Pillow Method, I have begun to see a more accurate, as well as academic, concept of my personality. To begin, my Myers-Briggs personality type has changed over time. Last May, I took this test and found I was an INFJ personality type; this time, my results showed ESFJ. The difference in my results are balanced, as I am 9% Extroverted, 6% Sensing, 50% Feeling, and 19% Judging. The first two criterions that changed are low percentages, meaning that I show a slight preference for extroversion over introversion, and sensing perception over intuition. Over the past year, I have noticed myself becoming more extroverted. Since I frequently surround myself with people who understand, love, and support me, it is easy to be myself, and not worry of what others think of me. My comfort around my friends, as well as my growth in self-confidence and self-awareness, has influenced my ability to gain and express my energy from others, rather than internally. Also, these results show a modest preference for the sensing perception, meaning I am well balanced at processing information from my personal understanding of the situation, as well as the facts from outside perspectives. However, the criterions that have stayed the same are myShow MoreRelatedTypes Of Personality Tests Out There844 Words à |à 4 Pagesare many types of personality tests out there. Freed Blacks rights after the Civil War Essay - 544 Words
Freed Blacks rights after the Civil War During the year of 1865, after the Northââ¬â¢s victory in the Civil War, the Republican Party began to pass national legislation in order to secure free blacksââ¬â¢ rights. Through the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments to the constitution, the republicans tried to protect and establish black freedoms. At the same time southern state legislators were passing laws to restrict free blacksââ¬â¢ freedoms. Through the use of black codes and vagrancy laws, the south attempted to keep blacks in a state of slavery. These laws were worded in a way such that blacks rights would be so restricted that it would remain impossible for them to gain any real freedom. In one Mississippi black code, the law allowed forâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦The seventh section of these black codes allowed for the return of freed blacks to their employers if they were to quit ââ¬Å"the service of his or her employer before the expiration of his or her term of service without good cause.â⬠What a blacksââ¬â¢ term of service and what defined just cause for ending that term of service, would likely be left up to the employer, creating a system which virtually defined slavery itself. Since blacks were required to be employed, this meant that they could be held in slave-like conditions to white employers. In Mississippi and elsewhere, vagrancy laws were another tool used by southern whites to maintain power over free blacks. In Mississippi these laws defined any black not having employment, meeting with other blacks or whites unlawfully, or being intimately involved with a member of the opposite race as vagrants. Consequently, they could then be fined and/or jailed. These laws also allowed for any free Negro who could not pay his fine to be hired out to any white man who was willing to pay the debt. This set up a system in which a free black was confined to working for a white employer who could dictate control over most of their lives, or be declared a vagrant and then hired out into a similar position. Without black suffrage, free blacks had no way of changing these laws, which could keep them in a perpetual state of servitude. Blacks were forced to rely entirely on national republican legislation toShow MoreRelatedThe End Of The Civil War1228 Words à |à 5 PagesAfter the Civil War, the fact that slavery was abolished might seem to be the end of the story; however, the problems derived from the abolishment of slavery had yet to be addressed. The Accuracy And Validity Of Autobiographical Memory Among...
The accuracy and validity of autobiographical memory among individuals who have experienced childhood sexual abuse (CSA) has been questioned since these experiences are highly emotional and traumatic. Some individuals may believe that recovered memories through the use of therapy or spontaneously may be recalled in an effort to gain money in a court case or seek revenge against an individual. In order to examine whether this statement of a disbelief in the accounts of individualââ¬â¢s experience with CSA is valid, the components of autobiographical memory, the specificity in the recall of autobiographical memory among repressed, recovered and continuous memories for individuals having experienced CSA, as well as the cognitive aspect of autobiographical memory will be presented. Autobiographical memory is divided into two components, which are personal semantic information and personal episodic information (Holland Kensinger, 2010). Personal semantic information is information that you know about yourself such as your name and birthplace. While personal episodic information is information about a specific event in your life such as the first time you learned how to ride a bike. In relation to CSA, personal semantic information would be the victim knowing the name of the perpetrator of the crime. As for personal episodic information, it would be remembering the experience of having been a victim of CSA as a whole. Personal episodic information entails further processes such as

It is understood that Hollywoodwould try to imitate this masterpiece on screen, and it has done so in twofilms: Franco Zeffirellis 1968 Romeo and Juliet and Baz Luhrmanns 1996William Shakespeares Romeo and Juliet. The updated Luhrmann picture bestcaptures the essence of Shakespeare for the present-day viewer. Through theingenious use of modernization and location, while preserving Shakespeareanlanguage, the spirit of Shakespeare emerges to captivate a large audience. Shakespeares plays were designed to adapt to any audience: with this inmind, Baz Luhrmann created a film that applies to the modern audience throughthis updating. Luhrmann modernizes Romeo and Juliet, through constantalterations of the props, which entice the audience into genuinely feeling thespirit of Shakespeare. First, the movie starts with an prologue masked as anews broadcast on television. This sets the scene of the play by illustratingthe violence occurring between the two wealthy families, the Montagues and theCapulets. In Zeffirellis film of Romeo and Juliet, the prologue takes theform of a dry narrator relating the story of the Montagues and Capulets over abackdrop of an Italian city. For most modern viewers (especially teenagers),the Luhrmann picture is fast-paced, keeping the spectator intrigued, while theZeffirelli picture is dreary and dull, an endless maze of long and boringconversations, foreshadowed by the prologue. In Luhrmanns film, the actors, instead of carrying swords with them, hide guns in their shirts and wield themexpertly. The death of Romeo and Juliet is (as always) blamed on the postoffice, for not delivering the letter properly. And, to be politically correct,Mercutio appears at the Capulets ball dressed as a large woman. The actors inZeffirellis version of Shakespeare wear colored tights and bulging blouses;thus they appear more comical because they are outdated. By modernizing theseaspects of the play, and reconstructing the prologue, Luhrmann creates a moviethat is more interesting to the modern viewer, and captures the essence ofShakespeares writings. Evidencing this viewer-friendliness, the 1996 WilliamShakespeares Romeo and Juliet made almost twelve million dollars in the monthof November alone due to its clever alterations. As well as updating Shakespeares play to the present decade throughprops, Baz Luhrmanns film is more enjoyable because of the vibrant settings. The Zeffirellis Romeo and Juliet occurs in an ancient Italian city, withcobblestone streets and Roman mansions. Although the original play was meant tobe performed in this setting, the modern viewer cannot relate to the environment, and thus has a hard time understanding the plot. In Luhrmanns version of the play, the Capulets and Montagues first meetin a gas station, where they exchange insults. In the older version of Romeoand Juliet, the Montagues and Capulets meet in the narrow streets of their city. For a modern teenager, a gas station is a more believable location for a fight, for many gang wars (in life and in the theater) actually take place in this sortof turf. This location helps to describe the extreme situation of the fightingfamilies. Also, the masquerade ball of the Capulets occurs in a believablelocation: a giant dance hall, reminiscent of many New York night clubs anddiscos. With a soaring ceiling and a wall-long tropical fish tank, Romeo andJuliet meet, as if attending a fantastic high school dance. In Zeffirellisversion of Shakespeare, however, the two lovers meet in a dismal costume ball, while watching a minstrel sing a doleful acappella tune. This 1968 version ofthe great celebration seems to have no style, action, or romance. The 1996version, however, has wild yet graceful camera angles and loud music, to keepthe average teenager from leaving the theater. .ue57c0a4df27dfb5c6b3bb4be44673f07 , .ue57c0a4df27dfb5c6b3bb4be44673f07 .postImageUrl , .ue57c0a4df27dfb5c6b3bb4be44673f07 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ue57c0a4df27dfb5c6b3bb4be44673f07 , .ue57c0a4df27dfb5c6b3bb4be44673f07:hover , .ue57c0a4df27dfb5c6b3bb4be44673f07:visited , .ue57c0a4df27dfb5c6b3bb4be44673f07:active { border:0!important; } .ue57c0a4df27dfb5c6b3bb4be44673f07 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ue57c0a4df27dfb5c6b3bb4be44673f07 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ue57c0a4df27dfb5c6b3bb4be44673f07:active , .ue57c0a4df27dfb5c6b3bb4be44673f07:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ue57c0a4df27dfb5c6b3bb4be44673f07 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ue57c0a4df27dfb5c6b3bb4be44673f07 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ue57c0a4df27dfb5c6b3bb4be44673f07 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ue57c0a4df27dfb5c6b3bb4be44673f07 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ue57c0a4df27dfb5c6b3bb4be44673f07:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ue57c0a4df27dfb5c6b3bb4be44673f07 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ue57c0a4df27dfb5c6b3bb4be44673f07 .ue57c0a4df27dfb5c6b3bb4be44673f07-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ue57c0a4df27dfb5c6b3bb4be44673f07:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Crime Detection EssayThe last setting change that creates a radical experience is the mostfamous balcony scene. In the latest rendition of the play, though, the balconyis skillfully interchanged with a pool. This produces an intense scene (inwhich the actors are fully clothed) that is more interesting than thetraditional balcony scene of the Zeffirelli film because it is more extravagantand revolutionary. The setting change and the constant updating in Luhrmanns film is onlyenhanced by the use of the original Shakespearean language to create theultimate Romeo and Juliet. For example, in order to preserve the Elizabethanlanguage, the guns of the rival factions are labeled Rapier, or Dagger. Thus, when a character asks for his long sword or knife, he is not beinganachronistic. Also, to avoid changing the Shakespearean language, Tybalt wearsa jacket with the logo King of Cats, which is his nickname. In Zeffirellisversion of the story, however, the audience must know the origin of this name tobe able to understand its connection to Tybalt. The actors do not wear anyidentifying marks (such as the mark on Tybalts jacket) to help the observerunderstand the play. Baz Luhrmanns William Shakespeares Romeo and Juliet is a film thattransforms Shakespeares writings into a contemporary location, with modernconcepts, yet keeps the language of Shakespeare alive. Compared to FrancoZeffirellis Romeo and Juliet, Luhrmanns picture is easier to understand fora modern audience, and more relevant to a modern viewer. The 1996 version ofthe play consequently captures the spirit of Shakespeares writing: to entertainany audience. Said the director, Baz Luhrmann of the film:The idea behind the created world was that its a made up world composed of20th century icons, and these images are there to clarify whats being said, because once the viewer understands it, the power and the beauty of thelanguage work its magic.
